7% of WoW Forever Characters Reached Level 30; Median Is 17

80,826 of 1,148,135 beta characters, or 7%, reached the level 30 cap. The median level is 17, and 40.2% of characters sit between levels 10 and 19.

In the census snapshot of October 23, 2026, 80,826 of the 1,148,135 characters recorded in the WoW Forever beta had reached the level cap of 30. That is 7% of all characters. The median character is level 17, so half of all characters are at level 17 or below. The largest group is the 10–19 band, which holds 40.2% of characters.

These are characters, not players. One player can have several characters, and each one is counted separately.

Most characters sit between levels 10 and 29

Splitting the levels into bands shows where the population sits:

LevelsCharactersShare
1–9231,22320.1%
10–19461,66440.2%
20–29374,42232.6%
30 (cap)80,8267.0%
Characters by level band, all realms, October 23, 2026

Together, the two lowest bands hold 692,887 characters, all below level 20. The 20–29 band holds 374,422 characters, or 293,596 more than are at the cap. That band is the one closest to level 30, and it is much larger than the group of characters already at the cap.

The 1–9 band holds 231,223 characters, or 20.1% of the total. That is about one character in five still below level 10, and it is 230,441 fewer characters than the 10–19 band holds.

Level 20 is the most common level, not level 30

Looking at single levels, the most common one is level 20, not the cap:

LevelCharactersShare
2089,7257.8%
3080,8267.0%
1652,3404.6%
1550,9624.4%
1950,7894.4%
The five most common levels, all realms, October 23, 2026

Level 20 holds 8,899 more characters than level 30. Both stand well clear of the rest: the next most common level, 16, has 52,340 characters, which is 37,385 fewer than level 20. After those two peaks the counts are close together, and levels 15 and 19 are only 173 characters apart. Three of the five most common levels, 15, 16 and 19, sit in the 10–19 band, the same band that holds the median of 17.

The census does not show why level 20 or level 30 holds more characters than other levels. It only shows that more characters are at 20 than at any other level, and that the cap comes second.

What the numbers measure

These figures are the site's census of every character recorded since the beta opened, at every level, as of October 23, 2026. A census counts characters, not the people behind them, so these numbers don't tell you how many players reached level 30. They show how far the characters seen in the beta had levelled.

For recent activity rather than totals since the beta opened, see the active characters page. For level-by-level detail, see the characters by level and levelling progress pages.

This post was written automatically from the census data on this site and checked against those numbers before it was published. How the numbers are counted is on the About page.
