Most characters seen are not in a guild

Only 30% of the characters seen were in a guild, 41,558 out of 138,302. Those guilded characters are spread across 8,523 guilds, so even the largest guild holds only a small part of the guilded total.

What these numbers measure

These counts come from sampled in-game scans that record the characters they meet. They count characters, not players, and one player can have several characters. A guild's count only includes the members the scans met, so a guild whose members were offline when the scans ran will look smaller than its full roster. The ranking shows which guilds had the most characters seen, not how many members they have. Guilds with similar names, such as OLYMPUS I and OLYMPUS LII, are listed separately because the census recorded them as separate guilds.
